What’s the best mixture for a pancake?
There are numerous ways to make pancakes – after all, the day originates from using up what is left in your cupboard.
While you may be a fan of thicker, American style pancakes, or thin French type crepes, this traditional English pancake recipe is bound to win you over – and it’s super easy too.
You will need:
- 125g of plain flour
- 2 eggs, medium sized
- 300ml of milk
What’s the ideal type of flour to use?
Typically, plain flour is used to make pancakes. You can also use whole wheat flour but it does tend to absorb more liquid so you may need to add more milk.
Can you make pancakes gluten free?
Yes, there are many flour options you can use. Aside from gluten-free flour, you can also use chickpea flour, coconut flour, oat flour or even rice flour.
Can you make pancakes vegan?
Yes just add the usual dry ingredients and substitute the eggs and milk for soy milk or another dairy-free alternative and vegetable oil.
Other good substitutes for eggs are bananas or applesauce. Either a ¼ cup of mashed banana or a ¼ cup of applesauce for one egg.
