Cadet: Man pleads guilty to causing death of rapper

A man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of London rapper Cadet in a car crash.

Jordan Birch, 23, from Woore, Shropshire, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and serious injury by dangerous driving at a court hearing on Tuesday.

Cadet, real name Blaine Cameron Johnson, died in a car crash as he was on his way to a gig at Keele University, in the early hours of the morning on 9 February. He was 28.

An up-and-coming artist from south London, he was also the cousin of Krept, of duo Krept and Konan.

Following his death, Krept and other artists, including Ghetts and Example, were among those to pay tribute, and a family statement shared on his Instagram described the rapper as an "underrated legend".

The collision happened on Main Road, Wrinehill, and involved a Toyota Prius, which the rapper was travelling in, and a Vauxhall Combo van.

Birch pleaded guilty at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court and will be sentenced on 9 January.
