Pregnant woman threatened with knife during Batley robbery

It happened in the town's cemetery on Wednesday evening.

A heavily pregnant woman in her 30s has been robbed at knifepoint in Batley.

The victim was sitting in the grounds of the town's cemetery at around 8.30pm on Wednesday evening, when she was approached by a man who demanded she handed over money.

The suspect threatened her with a knife, before taking cash from the victim’s purse.

He then made off in the direction of Cemetery Road.

The suspect is described as white, tall and of skinny build. He is believed to be in his 30s and was wearing a grey top and blue trousers.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed a male matching this description in the area or anyone who saw a male making off down Cemetery Road to come forward.
