As the first mobile phone call is made, BT announce they are phasing out the famous red telephone boxes. We saw the House of Lords on TV for the first time. Fire kills 56 people at Valley Parade stadium in Bradford and Clive Sinclair takes to the road in his C5 but production stops months later.
